This Student-Led Forum celebrates youth leadership in driving solutions for climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and health equity, showing how campus innovation can spark global action for a healthier planet.

Speakers

Shuaibu  Saidu Musa serves as a Programme Manager, Expansion Strategy at Global Health Focus (Africa). He leads the organisation’s outreach strategy for the Global Health Emerging Leaders Programme. He is a Registered Nurse from Nigeria and a master’s student at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand (focusing on healthy longevity medicine). Mr Shuaibu is an Associate Editor; UNIVERSITAS: The official Journal of the University of Makati, Philippines. His interests span Clinical Epidemiology, Planetary Health and Global Health.


Eleanor J. Ong, Director of The Greenhouse Community Services and NUS Research Scholar (PhD) at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore, bridges community practice and academic research in her work on mental health equity and substance use among marginalised populations. She will address the importance of trauma-informed approaches, participatory methodologies, and community-academic partnerships to create sustainable, equitable health interventions.


Xiaoyu Duan is an MSPH student in Global Disease Epidemiology and Control at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and is also affiliated with the Center for Global Health Equity at New York University Shanghai. His research focuses on ageing, sleep, and chronic disease, and he has experience in health economics and real-world data analysis. Passionate about bridging epidemiology and policy, Xiaoyu aims to promote healthier ageing populations worldwide.


Dantzel Tiakia is a Māori and Niuean doctoral candidate at the University of Auckland’s Te Poutoko Ora a Kiwa – Centre for Pacific and Global Health. With ancestral ties to Ngāti Wai and Lakepa, Niue, she has a background in biomedical science and Pacific health research. Dantzel serves as the New Zealand project manager for the Pacific Mental Health Survey, collaborating with Pacific nations to address mental health disparities through research. Her PhD research focuses on the mental well-being of Niuean youth in Aotearoa NZ and Niue, aiming to inform culturally grounded health policies and inspire future Pacific researchers.

Moderator

Imran Azwan bin Azizan is a Medical Officer and Public Health specialist-in-training, thirteen years’ experience; a UM DrPH candidate who completed a Malaysian AIDS Council internship on HIV self-testing. Previous leadership includes MOIC Klinik Kesihatan Labang, and Head CPRC (COVID-19), Head of Maternal and Child Health Unit and Head of Family Health Development Section in Bintulu Health Office.

Master of Ceremony

Ainulbariah binti Abd. Wahid is a first-year Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) candidate at the University of Malaya, who is passionate about building healthier and more sustainable cities. With a background in medicine and public health practice, she brings professional and community experience into her research on walkability and non-communicable diseases. She has been recognised with awards for outstanding service, including during the COVID-19 response.
